New Haven Police Organize National Night Out Activities at Seven Sites Throughout the City
(8/2/2010) (NEW HAVEN)— New Haven Police announced its participation today in National Night Out 2010 (NNO) which will take place on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010. National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
NNO events will take place at seven sites throughout the City as follows:
-Downtown Wooster Square
Substation will be open at City Hall for a meet and greet. Pizza will be provided 6pm – 8pm
-Westville and Whalley Beaver Hills
Districts will set up in the Edgewood Park at the Rangers Station.Pizza will be served from 6 to 8 pm.
-Dwight Kensington District
Pizza Party in Monitor Park at Derby Ave and Chapel St 6 to 8 pm
-Hill North - South
Substation will be opened for a meet and greet serving pizza from 5 pm to 7 pm
90 Hallock St
-Dixwell District
Block Party at 106 Goffe St 6 pm to 9 pm
-District 8 Fair Haven
Substation pizza party Meet and Greet
294 Blatchley Ave 6 pm to 8 pm
-District 9 East Shore
National Night Out at 341 Smith Ave 5 to 9 pm
Management Team Picnic at 601 Smith Ave at 7 pm
NNO 2009 involved over 36 million people in 14,625 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. National Night Out 2010 is expected to be the largest ever. Once again this year, Target is a national corporate sponsor.
